Hydrangea Festival Talks Schedule for 2013!
Hydrangea Festival Free Gardening Clinics June 24th-28th!
2pm–Winning Plant Combinations: Award-winning landscape designer Joyce K. Williams will demonstrate various tree and shrub combinations that can bring new vitality and continuity to overgrown or dysfunctional foundation plantings, beds and borders. Meet some under-utilized plants and newer varieties you’ll want to get to know better.
10:00am–Seeing Your Landscape with New Eyes: Certified landscape design professional Shannon Goheen will get you to re-envision your landscape by asking the right questions and choosing the right plants every time!
2:00pm–Growing Perfect Roses: Master Gardener and founder of the Lower Cape Rose Society, Bill ‘Oz’ Osborne, will share his tips to choosing and growing care-free and disease resistant roses. This talk is always a favorite, so be sure to arrive early to get your seat!
10:00am–Annual Container Gardening: Ann Marie Crocker will show you many inspiring container combinations for both sun and shade. Be sure to come with your questions as Ann Marie would be happy to answer them during the talk!
2:00pm–The Late Summer Garden: Join Mark Watson, long time garden designer and Crocker Nurseries employee, to examine late summer perennials, grasses and shrubs that add color, texture and form to the late garden. There are many ways to keep a border interesting later in the season!
10:00am–Stars of the Cape Cod Garden: Perennial manager Jenn Floyd will present garden favorites, newer perennials, and plants that do well in our seaside locations. Both sunny and shade areas will be covered.
2:00pm–Container Gardening with Perennials: Join landscape designer Maria Ryder and learn how to stretch your landscape dollars and maximize seasonal enjoyment by using perennials in your planters.
10:00am–Create Your Own Water Garden: Steve Eldredge has been creating water gardens for years and will introduce you to creating your own water garden including construction and maintenance, what plants to use and their function in the pond, as well as adding fish and creating an entire eco-system.
2:00pm–Small Fruits for the Home Garden: Russell Norton from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension will focus on incorporating Blueberries in the garden, covering cultivars, planting and culture. Raspberries, blackberries and strawberries will also be covered as time permits.
