About Us

OVERVIEW:
Crocker Nurseries was established in 1975 and developed with specific goals in mind. Our vision was to become an attractive, neat and well-organized nursery with a high focus on customer service.

The appearance of the nursery is very important to us. We constantly strive to maintain a space that is pleasant to shop and one that is easy to browse through. We hope you will take time to enjoy the beauty of our nursery. We also hope to make our customers educated consumers by offering them visible and practical information and professional advice. After all, gardening and gardening products is our business and our ONLY business.

We have built many display gardens in shady and sunny areas, on slopes and in beds. We have illustrated the use of rock gardens, rock walls, cement edging, as well as brick walkways. Our award-winning roadside waterfall planting received national recognition as the cover photo of The New American Gardener; a publication of the Rodale Press.

In 2006 we doubled the size of our Garden Shop and added a home decor department. We also doubled the size of our retail greenhouse and added a 7200 square foot canopy so you can shop rain or shine. We are now able to offer you more selections in many more categories and a variety of new merchandise in an open, easy to shop environment.

NURSERY DEPARTMENT:
Crocker Nurseries is situated on over 6-1/2 acres and bordered by a woodland setting. Within the 6-1/2 acres are fields of top quality nursery stock including trees, shrubs, roses and vines. Massachusetts certified horticulturist David Shea uses his skills when ordering the nursery stock. Trends, customer requests, standards, new items and the fruits of his knowledge all influence what items you will see available at the nursery. He can also assist you in planning your garden areas. There are also several knowledgable staff in the field that will always politely assist you with your selections and answer any questions you may have about our nursery plants. We will also help with the delivery of your stock if needed and assist with large orders of bulk materials such as hemlock and pine bark mulch, horse manure and loam.

GARDEN SHOP:
At the forefront of Crocker Nurseries, you will find our Garden Shop. In the Garden Shop are all those necessary tools and products to keep our plants healthy and happy. Products to enhance your plants and gardens, and items to display with them, are all sold here. Our pottery, statuary and home decor selections are larger than ever. Garden Shop Manager Heidi Root or any one of our wonderful Garden Shop staff will ring your sale and will assist you in obtaining any assistance you may need. The Garden Shop is open year round and offers many holiday items and gift ideas for any time of the year.

GREENHOUSE:
Houseplant buyer Nancy Ryder, in the Retail Greenhouse, houses a terrific selection of house plants year round and gorgeous seasonal holiday plants. Whether it be a foliage plant or a flowering one, there are selections that are constant and others that are seasonal.

ANNUAL DEPARTMENT:
A staff of diligent workers provide Crocker Nurseries with a vast selection of annual plants from the most common to the unusual. Tropical plants, flowering shade plants, annuals for beds, borders and containers, six packs and larger sized pots are all on display during the annual season. Our geraniums, grown on site, provide choices that are extensive. Specialty baskets and containers are also available, as well as custom services to design and fill your window boxes or containers. Ann Marie Crocker and our seasonal staff will be happy to assist you with your choices, and your requests.

PERENNIAL DEPARTMENT:
Over 35,000 pots of perennial plants are grown right here, on site at Crocker Nurseries. The perennial staff start the process right after the winter holidays and are able to closely monitor the success of each and every plant that is presented to you in our perennial department for purchase. Special sub categories include ornamental grasses, shade plants, a daylilies section and low growing perennials for edging and pavers. There is an extensive selection of perennials to choose from and they are arranged on the retail benches alphabetically, by color and, in some cases, by category. Our staff is always happy and willing to help you obtain the varieties and quantities you may need.

CONSULTATION AND GARDEN DESIGN:
Our knowledgeable staff also offers consultations at your residence. This includes a garden planning and design service by our Massachusetts certified horticulturists David Crocker and David Shea.
